Simon, Corinne, Beppe and you the little boy, I noticed your expression so peculiar when you hailed the end of the performance I attended that night. I expected you to savor this moment the joy of receiving a demonstration of joy shared by the public, who applauded warmly. Being myself an amateur actress, I know how much that time can give inner jubilation, and I saw him often intensely on one side or the other stage. That evening, however, it seemed that you had stayed a while in an "in-between" beautiful, somewhere between the character and the actor ... I then thought that the weight of your characters and their story was still being felt on your shoulders, and you had a little trouble to leave. And then it occurred to me that perhaps you were just surprised, even disturbed, to give such an unanimous approval of the public. But if you knew all that I received from you in less than half past one!
I discovered you through the story of a couple, told by an old man with kindness and good nature, a couple who, by the work of his memory, he has revived, then standing back, but not s erase never completely, as not to expose the public too directly to the intensity of these memories. I made the acquaintance of this man and this woman, only survivors of their families, decimated during the genocide of the Armenian people, and trying to rebuild a new life in a new country as husband and wife. I first saw these two characters react very differently to the same misfortune: he, with an overriding desire to reconstruct his past identically annihilated, having devised a plan for this unwavering in which he imposes on his wife role of the progenitor, she, so young, full of freshness, spontaneity and energy of life invincible, yet I fear that at the beginning they are quickly silenced by the authority of husband. And then their lives every day took place under my eyes and I saw them gradually go a long and difficult path, punctuated by the hopes of pregnancy disappointed and photographs taken by the husband as to keep trace of the execution of his plan or for fear of forgetting. I finally saw tolerance and tenderness born in the heart of this man, with the acceptance of a certain happiness that has come into his home where he did not expect the form of a Italian small dirty and ragged, collected by his wife. I understood then that this little boy was none other than our narrator, and through these moments of life he no longer had to worry about forgetting.
Irina, I like as you have show me so simply but with great strength and great emotion the long journey your characters, since the first meeting of the body to the meeting of souls, and I can still see the final image of these three faces together at last turning to the public, rather than towards the objective of the camera, and suddenly appearing to go to each of us through time. I left that night telling me that definitely is more work by our memory - individual and collective - rather than the physical implementation, we accomplish great things.

How to design life or simply live when you're lone survivor of a family of human folly, wishing to exterminate a people, destroyed? At this painful issue a beast on the moon tries to respond with force and intensity, describing the intimacy of a couple each of whom is a survivor of the Armenian genocide. The husband and wife experience their pain in opposite ways. He, overwhelmed me: it lives only in the hope of "change", recreating his family exterminated by having beautiful children! His dream will it be achieved? His suffering is indescribable and impossible to live until he reveal what he saw the day her family was exterminated. She embodies the joy and the desire to live and sent me his cheerfulness and hope. His desire to live and live well despite the tragedies she experienced gave me a great lesson in life and allowed me (for some time, most likely) to me refocus on core values. The actors play not only the room they live. And my excitement may have been the greatest at their salvation because their faces do not breathe the joy of having played a magnificent work, but the solemnity of those who convey the horror! Therefore, over a play he is a true testimony.

The show begins in darkness. Softly, somewhere behind the scenes, I see two faces that remind me a photo of a couple who comes from afar, a sort of icon. The image lasts a moment but a song evokes a lifetime, and even the history of a people and disappears. Then a figure appears to us to tell the story of a genocide, the Armenians in 1915 genocide that everyone wanted to erase but the characters in the play of Kalinoski revive. I do not know yet who is this narrator who remains onstage throughout the piece and subsequently take an important role for the couple.
Aram is a representative of the first generation of Armenian refugees in the United States. Simon Abkarian has built her character by adding Aram throughout the piece of psychological detail touches, such as brief glances to the audience. He touched so deep inside me that I am the spectator. It introduces for the first time his wife Seta home. Seta, played by Corinne Jaber, seems still a child and I was delighted with his laughter and freshness. Aram was selected from a photo in an orphanage a lot of Istanbul sent him. Already, the differences between these two people are being felt: he older, reserved, returning to his new role as an ordinary American and anxious to form his home; she young, smiling and thinking only chance she has had to escape the massacres. These two people from different social backgrounds are now together in a foreign country, both orphans, both survivors, both witnessed unimaginable horrors. They show their desire to erase their memories, by creating him home, enjoying her life and everything that makes us laugh. Scene after scene I am the witness of their daily life that often makes me smile, but also their difficulties to erase the past, their pride to succeed in a new world and learning to live together.
Aram, professional photographer who captures every moment of happiness with his wife. It keeps well visible permanently a large photo of his family massacred somewhere in the Ottoman Empire. This photo is a central enigma of the coin: heads are cut and those of Aram and Seta replace those of father and mother. Seta is haunted by this picture-I was also with her. Aram is the desire to fill these holes in the picture, but Seta is sterile. Tensions will be high on the problem of sterility of Seta and scenes of laughter give way to scenes of conflict that sometimes even become unbearable. Meanwhile Vincent takes a street boy, also an orphan. Seta care of him for finally adopted after a moment's hesitation on the part of Syria. The narrator of the beginning of this story is Vincent in adulthood.
The scene where Aram unlocks when finally revealed the story of his family massacred and he is the only survivor made me cry. I then understood the symbolism of this family picture without a head, but fortunately Vincent brings to the end that hope to the future which seems to need Aram and Seta.

"Thanks to its simplicity and purity, this little piece has something universal and s'indémodable. As agents of the theater, it gives us a great opportunity to search for the Essence. Behind this text so accurate lies a big farce and a great truth: the possibility of real contact between humans. And it is in these moments of connection between audience and actor, between the actor and his character, between fiction and the life we say yes. That's why we do this work ... "
