Body and nine, smooth and wrinkled at a time. Dazzled by the light, burned by the power of the first breath. The child is born. Corps old, wrinkled by time and the writing life. Suspended a wind that cleared the old man will die. "

In the sixteenth century, the first missionaries settled in eastern North America, forged friendly relations with the Hurons and Algonquins. Then with the arrival of trappers and soldiers, many tribes took fright and fled. But the European offensive began in earnest in the seventeenth century. Whites land ownership on the grounds that the Indians did not cultivate. Wars and epidemics decimated the Indians ... Paintings, sketches and drawings of the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries show the thrill of conquest, the desolation of battles.
This documentary, while not ignoring the bloodshed, says the cultural destruction. For Indians, the soil is made from the dust of bones, flesh and blood of ancestors. The arrival of whites, with their firearms and their ownership concept, breaks this harmony with nature. But it also inaugurated an unprecedented experience of confrontation between cultures and reflection on the other.
The film ends on a plan of the Black Hills, sacred mountains, deserted by the spirits, leaving room for portraits of U.S. presidents carved into the rock ... The genocide of American Indians who, four centuries, rose from 7 million to $ 400 000, doubles as ethnocide.

One day, rather than drawing four bison, a primitive artist has done one with four strokes ... This conceptualisation has to pass the "number of buffalo" in the "number" for short. Consequently, men had to learn to conserve numbers.
Many cultures have developed complex digital mapping equipment, accompanied by gestures grammars whose fingers were the main actors. It is impossible to overstate what has been given the use of paper, and then the ten signs with 0. Since then, the empire of numbers has been expanding, colonizing human life.
Philippe Truffault traces the history of this empire and visually entertaining. Compound based on the book by Denis Guedj, the film allows us to materialize the development of our mathematical thinking. The concrete examples, sometimes iconoclastic, succeed to express throughout the documentary, in short sequences and striking, changes in numbers. A descriptive comment and perfectly complements a visual explicit concern for the scientific truth.

The play is based on everyday situations, dialogues from the concrete to a slow painful journey into personal and collective tragedy. It never does in the dark pathos, evacuates the false good feeling to truly artistic work. It leaves it to each individual daiguiser critical thinking, without drawing the viewer into a superficial anger or emotion junk. It presents some snapshots dune life flashback memories of the narrator, poignant testimony where the humor flows as free range and the generosity of actors is gift of flesh and soul.
